Martin has had two spells at highbury. The first started when he joined as a trainee and formed a outstanding youth team center back partnership with Tony Adams. After a loan spell at Brighton, he made his Arsenal debut in November, 1985. Martin left Highbury for Aston Villa for a fee of £200,000 set by a tribunal in the summer of 1986. He joined Everton three years later and returned to Arsenal in February 1993. He is versatile enough to operate anywhere in defence, or as a midfield player. He was born on July 27, 1966.
