David joined from QPR in the summer of 1990 in a £1.3 million deal, then a transfer record for a goalkeeper. In his first season he won a championship medal, only conceding 18 goals in the league. In 1993 he collected F.A. Cup and coca-cola medals when we completed a historic double. He has been a regular in the England Squad since 1988 when he got his first cap against Saudi Arabia and was Englands hero in Euro 96. He was born in Rotherham and started his career with Leeds United. He played for Peterborough and Birmingham before joining QPR.
