A trio from the Vidlin area of Shetland, which derives its name, Shobils, from a prominent landmark near the homes of the group members.

Stewart Grains, aged 17 and the youngest of three children, was Shetland's Young Fiddler of the Year in 1994. He is presently studying electronic engineering at the Shetland Further Education College. Besides playing fiddle, Stewart is a very keen footballer.

Alan Jamieson, 24 years old and also the youngest of a family of three, is a general and marine engineer employed by L + M Engineering of Lerwick. Alan composes the fiddle harmonies for the group.

Isobel Jamieson, mother of three, plays piano. She occasionally plays piano accordion, but not for Shobils. She helps her husband run the family farm.

As well as playing as a group, the families are great friends. Stewart and Alan are both fine solo fiddlers and all group members are avid session players.
