Swansea Valley (2) ( Mostly towpath, urban and rural )

{short description of image} ......this multi-purpose bridge. A canal awaits at the top of the bank opposite. Turn right on its towpath. {short description of image} Not the prettiest of towpaths it has to be said, but a good deal safer than Clydach High Street
{short description of image} An off-towpath section has to be negotiated. People on tandems need to take especial care! {short description of image} Mind your head! But the scenery improves from here on.
{short description of image} Typical of the towpath between Clydach and Pontardawe. Click here for a history of the canal {short description of image} But sadly with more people on foot than on two wheels. Follow the canal until it disappears underground as you approach Pontardawe....
{short description of image} ....and the canal gives way to a little used road which leads into Somerfield car park {short description of image} Leave the car park by the tunnel shown and you will find the canal again, as if by magic. Follow it through Pontardawe as you did in Clydach
{short description of image} Until you once again are in open countryside along a very attractive stretch of the canal leading to..... {short description of image} ...this derelict lock just short of where our ride ends, at the Ynysmeudwy roundabout on the A4067.
