We cultivate much of our own produce in our extensive landscaped gardens in which our chickens and ducks parade, providing us with free-range eggs. We make our own sausages & preserves and have a small smokery for oysters, trout etc.. |
All of our rooms are en-suite including our top-rated disabled room which has a wheelchair accessible shower. This room is alarmed and enjoys it's own private entrance and adjacent parking space. The garden, tea-room, residents dining room and lounge with satellite TV, are all wheelchair accessible. |

What our guests think Below is an extract from the write-up we got in the October 96 issue of the Sunbeam Talbot magazine Stardust. The article was written by one of a party of people who stayed with us whilst taking part in a local Vintage Car Rally which although embarrassingly complimentary is also accurate! They are coming back for more of the same in September... ...the rooms were spotless, the welcome warm and genuine and the food - well, we all ordered the seafood banquet for Saturday evening and was it a blow out! Lobster, crab, oysters, prawns, winkles, and oh, those wonderful crayfish that just kept on coming. The quality and quantity of the food was more than enough to satisfy even the most critical diners among us.... |

Some places of interest (numbers in brackets denote map reference)
Eyemouth (7) - one of Britains most active
fishing ports with a fleet of some 80 boats landing primarily langoustine,
lobster and crab destined for France & Spain - but we get our share for
guests to enjoy!
Burnmouth (6) - a quaint little fishing village made up of
three smaller communities that until the 40's were only 'connected' by
sea.
St. Abb's (3) - a beautiful fishing village that is taken over
in the summer by the hundreds of divers enjoying the
Voluntary Marine Nature Reserve and it's clear
waters. Boat trips
available.
Abbey St. Bathan's (8) An area of outstanding beauty set inland
- very popular with walkers.
The Cove (5) A natural harbour that is populated
only by birds now but 400 years ago was a thriving fishing port. Access is
through an eery hillside tunnel.
Coldingham Bay (4) A beautiful quiet beach
still boasting the old fashioned changing huts of a bygone era.
Of International interest:
St. Abb's Head Bird Sanctuary (2)
Some 50,000 birds crowd the cliffs in
summer.
Siccar Point (1) A geological site of international importance
- the New York museum recently commissioned a latex mold of the rock face
for their British Geological Exhibit .
Edinburgh During August has the world famous 'Edinburgh
Tattoo' but the Fringe activities are what many people go for.
There are buses every day travelling up and down the A1 which allow our guests
to travel North to Edinburgh or South to Berwick.
Berwick, which boasts the most elaborate battlements in Europe, changed
hands between the English and Scottish 13 times! It is the staging post for
going South to Holy Island or inland to Galashiels or
Melrose or...
The above are just a few of the attractions in this Border area which is
thick with Stately Homes and Castles.
