Originally set up by Cecil Williamson at Castletown on the Isle of Man in 1948. Cecil relocated the museum to Boscastle in 1960 where it has been to this day. The museum has now been bought by Graham King who has over the past year completely refurbished and updated the layout
The collection is extensive, with around 600 groups of objects collected from all over Britain, but with an emphasis on the West Country. Though the artifacts are very varied, most underline the most basic of human concerns; sex and death.
The museum continues to receive a steady flow of donated items from the families of witches that have recently died, from living witches and from the general public. These items enable the museum to continually update its displays.
Exhibits include many images of witches, gods and goddesses, a stone circle cleverly conjured with mirrors and a tableau showing a village Wise Woman's Cottage. Based around the year 1880, this is complemented with sound track of the lady conjuring spells!
