Here are two items that I am proud to show you.

Let me tell you about the first item before you see the pictures.

In July of 1999, my youngest sister got married, and I was asked to utalise two of my skills in making the wedding cake.
The idea for the design came to me over Christmas lunch 1998.
In Janauary 1999 I made a traditional rich fruit cake.
This was made early to allow it to mature before it was decorated.
The next step was to make the ornement for the top of the cake.
This I turned from a piece of Oak and then cut it to shape and finished it to the.....

shape of a heart. Then added an arrow.

The next task was to make the cake pillars, and all of these were turned from Oak also.

It was now June and time to finish the cake. First of all the Marzipan and then the Royal Icing. Finally finishing of with the piping and decorations.

Now it is time to see the finished article.....

You can see nine cakes all measuring 9 inches (23 centimetres) square and
4 inches (8 centimetres) high.

The total height of the cake was almost 48 inches (120 centimetres).

Now let me tell you about the second item.

This is a copy of an antique set of 'AVERY Shop Scales' that my Wife and I have had for many years.
(a copy as near as I could make in wood that is)

There are 29 pieces of turned timber, and it is a fully working piece.

Apart from the brass chain and rings, it is entirely made from YEW.
