Training courses for beginners and improvers.

Learn to sail at Wimbleball in friendly safe surroundings.

For 2008 there will be a series of two day training courses run throughout the summer, from May until September.
The dates set for the courses are:-
10/11 May
24/25 May
7/8 June
21/22 June
12/13 July
9/10 August
13/14 September
Each day will start at 10am and finish at approx. 4pm.
Each weekend will be organised according to the participents, whether you are a beginner wanting an introduction to sailing and aiming for RYA Level 1, or an improver looking towards RYA Level 2 or above. As several instructors will be available the weekend may include people taking different levels.

How much does it cost?

The cost will be £120.----Existing WSC members, ask about members discount!

What do I get for this fee?

  1. Teaching by RYA qualified instructors.
  2. Use of WSC training boats during the course.
  3. Loan of buoyancy aid.
  4. Use of WSC facilities.
  5. Membership of WSC for the remainder of the club subscription year. (i.e. to the end of February 2009)

What do I bring?

You provide change of clothing, suitable shoes for sailing (canvas, trainers etc) and a packed lunch.

Prior to starting a training course all entrants are reqired to sign a registation form and medical declaration.

Introduction to racing.

FOC; no charge!

If you want to have a go at racing, sessions will be arranged during the year. For 2008 these will be:-
19 July - instruction and practice.
20 July - Novice racing
On novice racing days attempts will be made to pair novice with experienced racer.
Experienced club racers will be on hand to give some basic tips in racing rules, procedures and how to sail a designated course in safety as well in shortest possible time.
