What to buy and where to get it!

Lots of yarn and fibre projects can be done using materials which you may already have at home or which you can find locally. These include knitting needles, crochet hooks, yarns, string, sewing threads, sewing needles and everyday items like curtain rings, glue and double sided sticky tape! If you need to buy any of these try looking in your local charity (thrift) shops first - if you're lucky you'll find what you want at a bargain price. Keep your eyes open at yard sales/ car-boot sales, too! The local yarn shop will have a bigger choice of colours and textures for you to choose from, but everything will cost more. Don't forget to look at your local market stalls.Other basics might come from a hardware store.

Some items may be easier to get by mail order, for example fibres for handspinning and feltmaking, drop-spindles and spinning wheels. If you know of a supplier in your county/state/country let us know about them and we'll add it to our list. It's possible to use on-line suppliers, too, so you see, there's just no reason why you can't start creating right now!
