Backhoe Tracked Excavator: side view of completed model

This model was freely inspired by LIEBHERR R91.

MODEL FEATURES:

  • One Hercules motor (Maillot), six reversing movements.
  • Basement: Plastic tracks with spring tensioning device and articulated idle rollers.
  • Jib, digging arm, and bucket: Stand-alone cord pulley system.
  • Transmission:
    • Chain-sprockets with tensioning device.
    • Rubber clutch for arm movements and cab rotation.
    • Gear mesh for hoist and tracks.
    • Coaxial system to transmit track motion through the roller bearing.
  • Controls:
    • Five push-pull axle rods located on the back of the cab.
    • Cab rotation through "fake" vertical exhaust tube.

All standard Meccano parts except for co-axial transmission system, using 3 parts from EXACTO large axle system.
