Second Win for Senators' YouthGateshead Senators 22 Highland Wildcats 1427 Apr 2008Gateshead Senators took on rookie side Highland Wildcats of Inverness at the International Stadium on Sunday looking to increase their winning record on the season. Two scores by Adam Obrien and one by Iain Dover coupled with strong defense meant the Senators ended winning a closely fought contest 22-14 and moving to 2-0 on the season. Full Match report |
Opening Win for Senators' YouthClyde Valley Hawks 14 Gateshead Senators Youth 2620 Apr 2008Gateshead Senators Youth opened their 2008 season with an emphatic win on the road against Clyde Valley Hawks. Long first quarter scoring runs from Gavin Barr and Ian Dover set the standard, the lead increasing in the second period with Chris Doyle's 45 yard pass to Adam Obrien, with Ian Dover converting for 2 points. Long Road Trips face Senators21 Feb 2008The Senators' Senior team faces a gruelling schedule for 2008. There are away games to London Olympians and Bristol Aztecs, in addition to usual trips to Coventry, Birmingham and East Kilbride. At home the Senators will host London Blitz, Birmingham Bulls, East Kilbride, Farnham Knights (a long road trip for them) and Coventry. Senators retain Premiership Spot8 Jan 2008Gateshead Senators will again play in the BAFL Premier League in 2008. The league confirmed this with the announcement of the 2008 alignments. This despite the senior team having the worst season for years in 2007 and not reaching the playoffs for the first time in many years. But their record was enough to stay in the Premier League. Meanwhile the Senators Youth team are hoping to go even further in their second year. The inaugural season saw them take the Northern Championship but fall in the sudden death playoffs to the established Bristol Aztecs Youth. But in 2008, Senators youth vow to go all the way! |
Recruiting for 20082 Jan 2008The Gateshead Senators are currently recruiting coaches, players and gameday staff. The Senators are the North's Premier American football organisation, with both senior and youth teams. The senior team has a proven track record of success, whilst the youth team were Northern Champions in their first season, losing out in the sudden death playoffs on the road away to the experienced Bristol Aztecs Youth.
