The Humberston School is a small, highly regarded comprehensive school which consistently achieves above average examination results. The school opened in 1977 as a mixed 11 to 16 year old's comprehensive and has been at its present site since 1979.

In 1997 the school was included in the national top schools list and was awarded a certificate from the secretary of state for education in recognition of its achievements.

The school comprises of four purpose built main teaching blocks set in extensive playing fields, with a full range of specialist facilities including a hall and gymnasium. The standard of accommodation is excellent and much hard work goes into maintaining the attractive working environment. Classrooms are on the ground floor and ramps have been installed so that all areas of the school are accessible to disabled pupils.

Academic standards are high and in a typical year over 60% of the pupils will achieve 5 or more G.C.S.E. Higher Grades.
