All Saint's Church, Waltham

All Saint's Curch, Waltham
All Saints Church, Waltham

The Domesday Book mentions that there was a church and priest in Waltham and it is probable that the present church was built on the original site. Built mainly in the 13th and 14th century, it is a good example of a well-kept and well used parish church situated in the centre of a growing village. A Chantry Chapel was established in the north aisle in 1374. A memorial brass of 1400, discovered under floorboards in 1849 commemorates the parents of John Waltham, Bishop of Salisbury in 1388 and Lord High Treasurer from 1391 until his death in 1395. There is a tower with a fine peal of bells rung regularly for services. The church has a highly regarded choir of men and boys.
