The Tandem Flight

click to enlargeExperience the thrill of paragliding with a Tandem flight in the safe hands of one of our instructors. A tandem flight is an ideal present for friends and family. If you are thinking of taking up paragliding then a might be a better option to try a Taster Day as it will give you a better appreciation of what paragliding is all about.

The activity is weather dependent: tandem flights are only made when there are suitable weather conditions. Whilst every effort is made to make flights on days chosen by our customers we cannot control the weather or guarantee the flight will take place on that day.

What you must do!

Since this activity is weather dependent, you must contact me, Chris Dawes, on 07768 472 654 (between 9:00 and 9:30 on the morning of the day of your booked flight before you travel), to check that the weather conditions are suitable for the flight to be made and, if so, to confirm that you will be attending. I will meet you at the "Airways Flight Centre" near Ashbourne at the time arranged with you.

Clothing

Even in warm conditions you can get cold when flying so please bring some warm clothing - perhaps wearing several layers of clothing so that you can take some off, if and when you get hot. The wind can blow cold in any season so we suggest that you bring a lightweight windproof with you. We also recommend that you wear a strong pair of boots (walking boots are fine) - not for a heavy landing (we don't believe in them!) but in order to have a good footing when running to take off.

There are few facilities at our training sites so to keep your energy levels up please bring snacks and something to drink with you.

We will provide the rest - flying helmets (which are mandatory), a harness and the glider.

Travel/Camping/ Bed & Breakfast

We have a map showing where we are and a list of local camping and B&B facilities. We will be happy to forward these to you on request. Please note however that we are not responsible for your travel, camping or B&B arrangements and costs: these are your responsibility. It is therefore in your own interests that you contact one of our representatives at the 'Airways ' shop before you travel to check the situation as explained above.

Cancellations

If your flight is canceled due to unfavorable weather conditions it will be possible for you to book in for another day or you may contact us, when you are next able to come out. We do not give refunds but there is no time limit on taking up the booking. We also ask for a contact telephone number for you in case we are able to do some flying at short notice: we will give you a call to see if it's convenient for you to come - no problem if it's not.
