Isaiah 55: 10-13
(S.M. p. 324; R.C.L. p. 305)
God’s promises will be fulfilled: his Word proceeding forth and not returning empty is perfectly fulfilled in Jesus’ life, death and resurrection.
Responsorial Psalm 65: 1 (or 8) - 13
(S.M. p. 324; R.C.L. p. 306)
R. To you, O Lord, shall all flesh come, [ and you will blot out all their sins. ]
Romans 8: 1-11
(S.M. p. 148; R.C.L. p. 307)
Perhaps the most famous chapter in the NT, of this Tyndale comments: „The sin remaining in us, hurteth not, for there is no danger to them that are in Christ.”
Alleluia, alleluia!
Speak, Lord, your servant is listening;
you have the message of eternal life.
Alleluia!
(S.M. p. 322)
S. Matthew 13: 1-9, 18-23
(S.M. p. 325; R.C.L. p. 308) BB
A rare example of a reading shortened by the RCL! The parable of the sower tells us to expect an increase. The explanation given changes it into an allegory. Note too the explanation our Lord gives of his use of parables.
